Stone looks timeless in Connecticut for a reason. It belongs here—old fieldstone foundations, granite steps, bluestone landings, stone veneer accents, retaining walls that define a yard. The problem is, CT weather is relentless. Water gets into joints, freeze–thaw pushes stones loose, and a small wobble in a step or capstone turns into a bigger safety issue by the next season.
Wallder Construction provides stone masonry in Connecticut (CT) for homeowners, property managers, and small commercial properties that want stonework repaired and rebuilt the right way—clean lines, solid structure, and details that shed water instead of trapping it. We’re based in Meriden and have been working on Connecticut exteriors since 2002, so we know exactly what fails first on stone stairs, walls, chimneys, and veneers across the state.
If you’ve got loose stones, cracked joints, shifting steps, or a wall that’s starting to bow, call (203) 565-4719 for a free, no-obligation estimate. We’ll tell you what’s cosmetic, what’s structural, and what you should fix now before it turns into a full rebuild.
What You Get With Wallder Construction
There are plenty of people who will “reset a stone.” The difference is whether it stays reset.
Here’s what sets Wallder apart for stone masonry CT work:
20+ years in Connecticut (since 2002). We’ve repaired stone on older neighborhoods, newer builds, shoreline exposure, and everything in between.
Licensed and accountable. Wallder Construction is licensed in Connecticut (HIC.0638080). Your scope is clear, written, and tied to our license.
Exterior systems mindset. We’re certified installers for Dryvit, Parex, STO, and Senergy—so we think in systems: substrate, transitions, water control, and long-term performance.
Real capacity and project discipline. We’ve handled major exterior work like the Great Wolf Lodge EIFS installation (2024–2025). That level of scheduling and quality control carries into residential stone projects too.
Straight answers. We’ll tell you if a targeted repair is smart, or if the wall/steps need partial rebuilding to be safe and stable.

Our Stone Masonry Process
Evaluate the structure and the cause
We look for movement, water sources, missing caps, and failure patterns—not just the loose stones you can see.
Define the right scope
Sometimes a targeted reset is perfect. Sometimes the right fix is rebuilding a section so it doesn’t keep failing.
Proper prep (the part that matters most)
We remove loose material, clean joints, and prep bedding areas so repairs bond and cure correctly.
Reset / rebuild with correct bedding and jointing
Stones are set for stability first, then finished cleanly. Joints are tooled and shaped to shed water.
Final walkthrough + maintenance guidance
You’ll know what we fixed, what to watch for, and what changes (like drainage tweaks) will protect your investment.

If the stones are stable and the joints are failing, repointing may be enough. If stones are moving, bulging, or separating, rebuilding sections is often the safer, longer-lasting fix.
2
Why do my stone steps keep getting loose?
Usually it’s water intrusion and freeze–thaw beneath the stones, or base settlement. Resetting without fixing the bedding/base details often leads to repeat movement.
3
Can you match the look of my existing stonework?
Yes. We focus on clean alignment, consistent joint lines, and mortar that blends naturally with the existing structure.
4
Do you work statewide in Connecticut?
We serve Connecticut and focus heavily on Central CT and surrounding counties. If you’re in CT, reach out—we’ll tell you quickly if you’re in our service area.
5
Is stone masonry a good ROI repair before selling?
Absolutely. Loose steps and failing walls are big red flags in inspections. A clean, stable repair improves safety, curb appeal, and buyer confidence.
6
Can you rebuild just part of a stone wall, or does it have to be the whole thing?
Most of the time we can rebuild only the failed sections, then tie them back into the solid areas so the wall stays stable and looks consistent.
